This material was transferred to Reese Library Special Collections in 2008 by Mr. Eric G. Roberts. Mr. Roberts, the grandson of Etheridge Jackson, a friend and fellow hunting enthusiast of Edison Marshall. The letter in the collection was by Marshall to Mr. Robert's mother, Betty Jackson.

Russell Bankson, newspaperman and fiction writer, was born in Mt. Hope, Washington on February 21, 1889. He attended Washington State College, Pullman from 1910-1912. He worked as reporter and editor for the Spokane Daily Chronicle, and on the editorial staff of the Spokesman-Review, both in Spokane.
